  • Patience – toms come on their time, not yours

  • Respect for the Land – leave no trace

  • Humble Confidence – even if you don’t tag out, you’ll learn

  • Positive Attitude – the most important thing you’ll bring to camp

“Negativity ruins hunts. Positive hunters help each other, learn together, and create the kind of experience worth coming back for.”

🔚 Final Reminder:

“Hunting turkeys ain’t just about the kill. It’s about the chase, the memories, and the respect you leave behind. Bring your best self — and your sharpest broadhead.”

Preparation for the Hunt

Before you step into the woods, before the first gobble rips through the timber — preparation is everything.

This isn’t just about gear. It’s about mindset, shot discipline, knowing your setup, and respecting the bird you’re hunting. The better prepared you are, the better your odds — and the more rewarding your experience will be.

🎯 Shot Practice & Weapon Proficiency

You MUST be proficient with your shotgun or bow before arriving at camp.

Whether you’re running a bead, red dot, or pins — you owe it to the bird (and yourself) to know your shot pattern, your effective range, and your weapon’s behavior in field conditions.

📌 Recommendations:

  • Shotgun Hunters: Pattern your turkey load at 10, 20, 30, and 40 yards. Most clean kills happen at 15–30 yards. Know your spread, know your limits.

  • Archery Hunters: Focus on 20- to 30-yard shots, with fixed-blade broadheads if possible. Practice from a seated position — how you’ll actually shoot in a blind.

  • Choke Tubes: Use a turkey-specific choke to tighten your pattern. Don’t test this for the first time at camp.

⚠️ If your pattern is loose, inconsistent, or light, correct it before you arrive — not after.

Final Thoughts

What separates the hunters who fill tags from those who go home empty? Preparation.

If you show up tuned in, locked on, and respectful of the bird — you’ll be in the game.

“Turkeys reward patience, silence, and sharp execution. If you can master those, the rest is just feathers and spurs.”

We’re here to provide the land, the opportunity, and the insight. But the hunt is up to you.

Come prepared.
Come focused.
And come ready to earn your moment.

Arrival & Orientation

At FeatherNett Outdoors, our goal is to give you everything you need for a high-success, low-stress turkey hunting experience — even if we’re not under the same roof.

Since these are DIY hunts, we do not provide on-site lodging. However, we’ve worked with many turkey hunters over the years and are happy to recommend trusted lodging options near our hunting properties to make your stay as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

Whether you’re looking for a quiet cabin in the woods, a comfortable motel, or something with a full kitchen and Wi-Fi, we can help connect you with local places we stand behind. Just let us know your preferences, group size, or budget, and we’ll point you in the right direction.

📍 Where You’ll Hunt

Our turkey hunting properties are spread throughout some of the most productive ground in southeastern and central Ohio. This region is home to thick ridges, rolling pasture, and mature timber — ideal terrain for calling in spring gobblers.

You’ll receive detailed instructions, access coordinates, and your OnX hunt map before your arrival, so you’ll know exactly where you’re hunting and how to get there.

🕓 Arrival Time & Orientation

We recommend planning your arrival the evening before your first hunt day, ideally by 4:00 PM. While we won’t have a camp to check you into, this gives you enough time to:

  • Check in at your lodging

  • Download/verify your OnX maps

  • Attend an optional pre-hunt orientation call or get support from our team if needed

  • Finalize any last-minute gear prep

Pro Tip: If you’re new to the area, it’s smart to scout your route in daylight, get familiar with nearby amenities, and test your cell service ahead of time.

📤 Check-Out & Final Notes

We ask that you wrap up and be off the property by noon the day after your hunt ends, unless previously arranged. This allows us to reset, update access permissions, and prep for incoming hunters.

🛌 Lodging Options We Recommend

After booking your hunt, we’ll send you a list of preferred lodging providers near your assigned hunting location. These include:

  • 🏡 Cabins

  • 🏨 Local inns and motels

  • 🛏️ Airbnbs with hunting-friendly accommodations

  • 🐾 Pet-friendly options available upon request

Let us know if you’re traveling solo, as a couple, or with a group — we’ll match you with something that fits your style.

📶 Connectivity Note

Most lodging options offer Wi-Fi, but some hunting areas are remote and cell service can be limited in the field. We recommend downloading your OnX maps offline before arrival and letting your family or contacts know you may be out of service during hunting hours.

We’re here to support you every step of the way — even if you’re hunting on your own. From gear recommendations to lodging suggestions, our team is just a call or message away.

Welcome to FeatherNett Outdoors. Let’s make this spring one to remember. 🦃

The Hunt

At FeatherNett Outdoors, our goal is to give you the opportunity to experience a high-quality, DIY turkey hunt in the heart of Ohio’s top-producing counties. Through years of scouting, land management, and strategic access, we’ve put together a system that gives you the best chance at success — without the pressure of a guided hunt.

You’re here because you love the pursuit. You’re putting in the work. And we’re here to help make sure it’s worth it.

Property Access & Movement

Our turkey properties are strategically managed and lightly pressured to maximize your opportunity. To maintain the integrity of each farm, access is strictly limited to assigned zones and approved entry points.

Important guidelines:

  • Only walk to and from your designated hunting Property

  • Close all gates behind you

  • Do not block driveways, farm roads, or equipment access areas

  • Do not drive on fields or crop rows under any circumstances

DIY Hunt Expectations

This is your hunt, and success depends on your woodsmanship, preparation, and discipline. Our job is to give you access to high-quality land, intel when available, and the tools you need to plan your strategy.

We ask the following of all hunters:

  • Only take ethical, high-percentage shots

  • Don’t over-call — pressure ruins properties

  • Stick to the plan: don’t bounce between zones or try to explore new areas without permission.

Prohibited in the Field

  • Alcohol before or during hunts

  • Smoking in the field

  • Illegal or unlicensed hunting

  • Roaming outside your assigned area

  • Use of disposable scent wicks or open-air attractants

You’re here to chase wild birds on wild land. We take that seriously — and we know you do too. Stick to the rules, hunt with purpose, and take in every moment.

If there’s anything you need before your hunt, our team is here to help.

Welcome to FeatherNett Outdoors. Let’s make this a hunt to remember. 🦃

After The Shot

At FeatherNett Outdoors, your success is our top priority — and that includes what happens after the shot.

While this is a DIY turkey hunt, we still ask that all hunters follow a few important post-shot procedures to help us maintain the integrity of our properties and assist with accurate harvest reporting:

After the Shot

  • Once you’ve successfully harvested a bird, please notify our team as soon as possible using the contact number provided in your welcome materials.

  • Even though this is a self-guided hunt, we ask that you do not linger or scout after recovery. Walk directly to and from your hunting area only.

  • If you need help locating a bird or transporting your harvest, we’ll do our best to assist depending on availability — just reach out.

We do not currently offer in-house processing or taxidermy, but we have partnerships with trusted local processors and turkey taxidermists. If you’d like help coordinating services, just let us know in advance — we’re happy to connect you.

Reminder: Please store or transport your bird according to Ohio regulations. If transporting out of state, be sure to follow all wildlife transport laws (no meat spoilage, no brain matter or feathers if required by your home state).

We’d Love to Feature You!

After your successful hunt, feel free to:

  • Tag us on Instagram or Facebook

  • Send us a photo or quick story from your hunt — we love celebrating our hunters and showcasing your success

Let’s make this turkey season legendary. 🦃

Exceptions

At FeatherNett Outdoors, our mission is to offer serious hunters access to proven, low-pressure turkey hunting properties across some of the most productive ground in Ohio. These aren’t just any farms — they’re strategically managed tracts that give you a true chance to tag a longbeard without overhunting, overguiding, or overcrowding.

While these hunts are DIY (Do-It-Yourself), you’re not left on your own. We provide access, maps, support, and recommendations based on years of scouting and results. The hunt is yours to run — and we’re here to help you run it right.

Terrain & Setup Variety

The terrain on our properties includes:

  • Mature hardwood ridges

  • Pasture edges and brushy fence lines

  • Crop fields, food plots, and green strut zones

  • Creek bottoms, roosting funnels, and pinch points

Each of our hunting zones is pre-scouted and situated in high-traffic turkey areas based on seasonal movement, strut zones, and roosting activity. Whether you like to run-and-gun or set up in a blind for first light action, you’ll be placed in an area suited to your hunting style.

Want to Capture the Hunt?

FeatherNett Outdoors now offers optional filmed hunt packages, perfect for hunters who want to relive their experience or build a personal highlight reel.

Low Pressure, Rotating Access = Real Opportunity

We carefully rotate access to our turkey hunting properties to keep pressure low and encounters high.

  • We limit the number of hunters per week

  • You’re never dropped into an overhunted spot

  • We provide fresh intel and adjusted zone recommendations based on in-season activity, weather, and roost movement

The result? You’re hunting unpressured birds in a fresh setup — not somebody else’s leftovers.

🕓 Your Daily Hunt, Your Way

Because this is a DIY hunt, your day is on your schedule. Want to be set up an hour before daylight? Prefer mid-morning strikes after fly-down? We let you hunt your way — within your assigned zone and within all Ohio game laws.

Gratuities

At FeatherNett Outdoors, we pride ourselves on providing high-level access, support, and preparation for your DIY turkey hunting experience — and that wouldn’t be possible without our dedicated team working behind the scenes.

While your hunt is self-guided, many hunters still benefit from:

  • Pre-scouted property zones

  • OnX map setup and custom access planning

  • In-field assistance when needed

  • Optional services like filmed hunts or recovery help

Tips are not included in the cost of your hunt, but they’re always appreciated by the team members who help make your experience possible.

  • Field Support / Property ManagersSuggested: 5% of your hunt fee

  • Media or Filming Staff (if booked)Suggested: $150-$200 per day

While tipping is always optional, it goes a long way in showing appreciation for the people who wake up early, prep access routes, maintain stand areas, and answer your calls before sunrise.

FeatherNett Outdoors is built on relationships. Gratitude — whether in the form of a tip, a handshake, or a thank-you note — makes a difference.
